India assumes Chair of Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre

India has assumed the Chair of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Centre (ADPC) for the year 2024-25, with Rajendra Singh from the National Disaster Management Authority taking over the role from China.
Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, India is enhancing its global and regional role in disaster risk reduction and climate resilience, highlighted by initiatives like the International Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure.
ADPC, founded in 1986 and headquartered in Bangkok, focuses on disaster risk reduction and climate resilience across Asia and the Pacific, with additional country offices in Bangladesh, Lao PDR, and Myanmar.
