- King Harald V of Norway died on 28 August 2026 at the age of 89 after 35 years on the throne and was succeeded by his son as King Haakon VIII.
- American poet, novelist and environmental activist Wendell Berry died at 92 in Kentucky after authoring more than 50 books on agrarian life and conservation.
- Veteran Gujarati music composer, arranger and singer Gaurang Vyas passed away at the age of 87 in Ahmedabad in September 2026.
