Center Notifies 8 High Court Chief Justices

- Judicial Executive Order: The Central Government appointed eight High Court Chief Justices on September 5, 2026, following Supreme Court Collegium approval.
- Constitutional Provision: Issued under Article 217 by President Droupadi Murmu in consultation with Chief Justice of India Surya Kant.
- Key Transfers: Justice V. Kameswar Rao named Patna CJ, Justice Ravindra V. Ghuge named Calcutta CJ, and Justice M.C. Tripathi was named Bombay CJ.
- Promotions: Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra was elevated to full-time Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
- Judicial Scope: High Courts remain the top judicial bodies in states and union territories.
