India’s First Immersive Language Museum Inaugurated

Shabdalok (Museum of Word), India’s first immersive language museum, was inaugurated on July 19, 2026, at Belvedere House, National Library campus, Kolkata.
It showcases India’s linguistic heritage, covering nearly 380 languages and the 121 languages from the 2011 Census.
The museum features nine galleries with interactive touchscreens, holograms, AI, AR, VR, and audio-visual installations.
It operates under the Union Ministry of Culture and aims to educate visitors about language evolution and cultural significance.
Entry is free until August 15, 2026 (closed on Mondays).
