National Flag Day is celebrated on July 22 to commemorate the adoption of the Indian National Flag (Tiranga) by the Constituent Assembly in 1947.
It honors the sacrifices of freedom fighters and symbolizes India’s sovereignty, unity, and constitutional values.
The tricolor features saffron (bravery), white (peace), green (prosperity), and the Ashoka Chakra (24 spokes).
The Flag Code of India governs its proper use, including ratio, display rules, and recent amendments allowing 24x7 hoisting.
Educational activities are organized to instill respect for the flag among youth.
