US announces import bans and tariffs on Canadian goods

On 8 September 2026, US banned selected Canadian alcohol, motorcycles, whey and molasses (effective 29 September).
Additional 50% tariffs on Canadian steel, aluminium, mattresses and motorboats from 15 September.
Follows Canadian retaliatory tariffs and earlier US measures.
GSA directed to exclude Canadian products from major federal procurement.
Escalating trade dispute between the two countries.
