Praggnanandhaa Wins Norway Chess 2026

India’s Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa became the first Indian to win the prestigious Norway Chess tournament 2026. The 20-year-old Chennai player defeated Germany’s Vincent Keymer in the final round, securing 18 points and the title. Starting from third place with 15 points, he delivered a brilliant comeback with four consecutive wins in the later stages. He also defeated Magnus Carlsen twice in classical games. Wesley So finished second with 17 points. This landmark victory highlights Praggnanandhaa’s rising stature and India’s growing chess dominance.
