NPCI Launches UPI Tap & Pay and My UPI Platform

- National Payments Corporation of India launched UPI Tap & Pay and AI-powered My UPI on 10 September 2026.
- Unveiled by RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra at the Global Fintech Fest 2026.
- UPI Tap & Pay is a contactless feature for NFC-enabled smartphones.
- Users unlock the phone and tap it on a PoS terminal to pay without opening any UPI app.
- No active mobile data needed as the transaction uses the PoS terminal’s internet.
- PIN-less limit set at ₹5,000; higher amounts require UPI PIN.
- My UPI is an AI-powered conversational platform built on NPCI’s FiMI model.
