Two New Amphibian Species Discovered in Mizoram

- Scientists described Duttaphrynus phawngpui (toad) and Ingerana aizawl (frog) in papers published on 13 and 14 September 2026.
- Duttaphrynus phawngpui was found above 2,000 m in Phawngpui National Park (Blue Mountain), Mizoram’s highest peak.
- Ingerana aizawl was discovered on the Mizoram University campus and was earlier misidentified as Ingerana borealis.
- Research involved Mizoram University, Cotton University, Help Earth and Indonesian scientists.
