FSSAI takes action against Amazon, Swiggy, BigBasket, Flipkart & Zepto for food safety violations

On 23 September 2026, FSSAI initiated penal action against Amazon, Swiggy Instamart, BigBasket, Flipkart India and Zepto.
Alleged violations include misleading claims, misbranding, non-compliant product information and online sale of prohibited/poisonous foods.
Happilo Premium Date Bites – Zesty Orange was flagged across all five platforms.
Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket also faced action over Milky Mist cream, curd and Greek yoghurt.
Amazon Seller Services, Swiggy Instamart and BigBasket were pulled up for listing Datura (Dhatura) fruits and seeds.
