PhonePe Receives UAE Payment Licences

- On 22 September 2026 the Central Bank of the UAE granted PhonePe in-principle approval for Retail Payment Services and Card Schemes (RPSCS) and Stored Value Facilities (SVF).
- This marks PhonePe’s first international expansion step; final clearances are still required before commercial launch.
- The company plans to partner with regional banks, licensed providers and local tech vendors and to support UAE domestic rails Aani and Jaywan.
