Six novels shortlisted from 163 English-language submissions published Oct 2025–Sep 2026 in UK/Ireland.
Contenders: M. John Harrison (The End of Everything), Marlon James (The Disappearers), Luke Kennard (Black Bag), Rebecca Perry (May We Feed the King), Elizabeth Strout (The Things We Never Say), Douglas Stuart (John of John).
James and Stuart are previous winners; Perry is a first-time nominee.
Winner to be declared 9 November 2026 in London.
Judging panel chaired by historian Mary Beard, with Raymond Antrobus, Jarvis Cocker, Rebecca Liu and Patricia Lockwood.
