Former Uttarakhand minister Hira Singh Bisht died of cardiac arrest on 26 July 2026 in Dehradun at the age of 85.
Senior Congress leader and three-term MLA from Doiwala and Rajpur constituencies.
Served as cabinet minister under former CM N.D. Tiwari, holding portfolios of transport, labour and technical education.
Born on 4 November 1940; remained active in state politics for decades.
Founder member of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand and helped secure land for Raipur Cricket Stadium in Dehradun.
Served as president of the Uttarakhand unit of INTUC (Indian National Trade Union Congress).
