India Targets Over 26,000 km Rural Roads in FY 2026-27

- The Government of India has allocated ₹18,907 crore to construct 26,474 km of rural roads under PMGSY and related schemes in FY 2026-27.
- Secretary, Rural Development, Shri Rohit Kansal chaired a high-level review meeting with states to assess progress under PMGSY and RCPLWEA.
- States were directed to accelerate last-mile connectivity, complete pending works in left-out habitations, especially PVTG areas under PM-JANMAN.
- Emphasis was placed on quality construction, maintenance, and universal adoption of the e-MARG platform.
- Focus was also given to timely completion of roads in Left Wing Extremism-affected districts.
