Sundarraj P Appointed as NIA Inspector General

- On 16 June 2026, the Union government appointed Sundarraj P (2003-batch IPS officer) as Inspector General in the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
- He was serving as Inspector General of Bastar Range in Chhattisgarh, where he spent about 12 years supervising anti-Naxal operations.
- The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a deputation order; Chhattisgarh government was asked to relieve the 46-year-old officer.
- NIA, established under the 2008 Act, functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs and investigates terrorism and national security offences.
- Bastar Range covers seven districts in south Chhattisgarh and remains a key area for anti-Naxal efforts.
