Air India Appoints New CEO and MD

Air India appointed Tewolde Gebremariam as its Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director on 5 August 2026. He will succeed Campbell Wilson, who resigned with effect from April 2026 and is scheduled to leave on 30 September 2026.
Gebremariam earlier served more than a decade as CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, during which the group’s revenue grew more than fourfold and its fleet nearly tripled. The Air India Board selected him after a global search. Air India, founded in 1932 as Tata Airlines, was acquired by the Tata Group in 2022.
