River Kopili Declared Operational as National Waterway-57, First Cement Cargo Dispatched in Assam:

Assam marked a major milestone in inland water transport with the inauguration of cargo operations on River Kopili, designated as National Waterway-57. A 300-tonne cement consignment was flagged off from Govardhan Bridge in Chandrapur (Kamrup district) to Hatsingimari in South Samara. The resumption of river trade after more than a decade was hailed by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as a transformative moment for logistics in the Northeast.
