Indian Navy to commission stealth frigates Udaygiri and Himgiri together for the first time:

On 26 August 2025, the Indian Navy will, for the first time, commission two major frontline warships simultaneously — stealth frigates INS Udaygiri (F35) and INS Himgiri (F34) — at Visakhapatnam. INS Udaygiri, the second ship of Project 17A, has been built by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai, while INS Himgiri is the first P17A frigate constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) in Kolkata. The event is seen as a major success for the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ defence initiatives.
