Rajesh Verma appointed secretary to President Draupadi Murmu

  • The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet appointed Odisha cadre IAS officer Rajesh Verma as the secretary to President Droupadi Murmu.
  • A graduate in electrical engineering, Verma is currently serving as the secretary of the Union ministry of corporate affairs. 
  • Verma, who hails from Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, will replace Kapil Dev Tripathi in his new assignment.
  • Verma was inducted into the central deputation in July 2019.
  • Before going to the Centre, Verma had served as the principal secretary to chief minister Naveen Patnaik for two years from January 2017.
