Satyapal Malik, who served as the last Governor of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir from August 2018 to October 2019, passed away at the age of 79 after a long illness. Malik played a key role during the abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, which revoked J&K’s special status. A veteran politician with over 50 years of public service, he was a three-time parliamentarian and also served as Union Minister under V.P. Singh. His political journey spanned multiple parties, including Janata Dal, Congress, and BJP.
