Former Jharkhand governor Syed Sibte Razi passes away

  • Senior Congress leader and former Jharkhand and Assam governor Syed Sibte Razi (83) passed away in Lucknow.
  • Born on March 7, 1939 in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, he started his political career as a student leader and then joined active politics in Congress. 
  • He served as governor of Jharkhand from 2004 to 2009 and Assam during 2009.
  • He was made president of the Youth Congress in 1971, a post he held till 1973. 
  • Syed Sibte Razi was elected thrice to Rajya Sabha.
