World Humanitarian Day 2024:

- World Humanitarian Day (WHD) is observed annually on August 19th to honor aid workers who devote their lives to humanitarian efforts.
- This day was established in memory of the 2003 bombing of the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, which tragically claimed 22 lives.
- The 2024 World Humanitarian Day campaign, #ActForHumanity, aims to tackle the increasing violence against humanitarian workers and civilians, calling for the strict enforcement of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) to end the impunity for such breaches.
