New Criminal Laws Scheduled to Take Effect on 1st July 2024

The new laws include Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, aiming to streamline the justice system and enhance accessibility for Indian citizens.
Important provisions of these laws include online incident reporting, allowing FIR filing at any police station with free copies for victims, rights for arrested individuals to inform a chosen person, and expedited investigations for crimes against women and children.
The government has collaborated with States and Union Territories to prepare for the laws' implementation through technological upgrades, capacity building, and awareness campaigns.
