Lt Gen Dhiraj Seth Appointed Next Chief of Army Staff

Lieutenant General Dhiraj Seth was appointed as the next Chief of the Army Staff on 13 June 2026. He assumed office on 30 June 2026 after General Upendra Dwivedi’s retirement and served until 31 August 2028. Commissioned into the Armoured Corps in 1986 from the National Defence Academy, Lt Gen Seth previously served as Vice Chief of the Army Staff. He has commanded the South Western and Southern Commands, an armoured regiment, and a counter-insurgency force in Jammu and Kashmir. He has been decorated with several prestigious military honours.
