Chhattisgarh Tilapia Export Milestone

- On 20 August 2026, Chhattisgarh became the first inland Indian state to export value-added Tilapia products (382 tonnes to the USA).
- Review meeting held in Raipur under Secretary Dr Abhilaksh Likhi with NFDB, MPEDA, NABARD and over 1,300 stakeholders.
- The state invested nearly ₹900 crore under PM Matsya Sampada Yojana; fish production reached about 10 lakh tonnes.
- Tilapia (including GIFT strain) is a major freshwater aquaculture species.
- Highlights growth of inland fisheries and export potential.
