Maharashtra bans loose edible oil & fats

- Maharashtra FDA issued statewide order (20 Aug 2026) banning sale of loose/unpackaged edible oil & fats across the entire supply chain.
- Applies to expellers, refiners, blenders, wholesalers, retailers, e-commerce etc.
- Only sealed, tamper-evident packs with full labelling allowed; multi-sourced oil packs max 15 kg.
- Prohibits reuse of frying oil; used oil with Total Polar Compounds >25% must go to authorised collectors.
- Violations under FSS Act 2006 attract up to 7 years jail & fines up to ₹10 lakh.
