Defence Ministry Approves 250 MW Solar Project in Uttar Pradesh
  • The Defence Ministry approved a 250 MW Solar Power Project with Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Sitapur (ex-cantonment area), Uttar Pradesh, on June 9, 2026. The project will utilize about 850 acres of vacant defence land and will be implemented by NTPC Limited through competitive bidding.
  • The initiative supports India’s renewable energy goals. BESS will help manage solar power variability for stable supply. Coordination will involve the Ministry of Defence, NTPC, Army Headquarters, and Directorate General Defence Estates. This marks a significant step in utilizing defence land for green energy generation.
