Singapore Launches Biological Data Centre Prototype
  • Singapore unveiled a biological data centre prototype at NUS Centre for Life Sciences (launched 16 July 2026; showcased 6 August). The system uses ~16 million living human neurons (from stem cells) across a 20-unit rack of CL1 systems (~800,000 neurons each). Power draw: ~25 W per unit, 800–1,000 W per rack.
  • Partners: Prof. Rickie Patani (NUS Medicine – cell culture), DayOne (infrastructure), Cortical Labs (hardware). Applications: neuro-inspired AI, biomedical modelling, drug discovery. Aligns with Singapore’s Green Data Centre Roadmap.
