HAL-Safran Aravalli Engine Contract

HAL and Safran Helicopter Engines signed a final contract on 26 August 2026 in Bengaluru for the high-power turboshaft engine “Aravalli”.
Through joint venture SAFHAL Helicopter Engines Pvt. Ltd.
3,500–4,000 shp class engine for 13-tonne Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH) and naval Deck-Based Multi-Role Helicopter (DBMRH).
Covers design, development, manufacture, supply and lifecycle support.
IMRH intended to replace Russian Mi-17 medium-lift helicopters.
Potential civil applications and domestic MRO capability planned.
