India gifts missile corvette INS Kirpan to Vietnam

- India gifted an indigenously built in-service Missile Corvette, INS Kirpan, to Vietnam.
- Defence Minister Rajnath Singh presented India's gift to his Vietnamese counterpart General Phan Van Gang in Delhi after a session of bilateral dialogues.
- Missile Corvette INS Kirpan is a Khukri class warship which was commissioned in 1991.
- India also aims to crank up arms supplies to Asean countries after the $375 million deal with the Philippines for the 290-km range BrahMos missiles in January 2022.
- Vietnam is an important ally of India in the latter's Act East Policy, which was conceived by Prime Minister Narendra Modi focussing on the extended neighbourhood in the Asia-Pacific region.
