Samriddh Gram Project Wins WSIS Prize 2026

The Department of Telecommunications’ Samriddh Gram Integrated Phygital Services Project won the Global Winner title in the WSIS Prizes 2026 under the Enabling Environment category on 9 July in Geneva. The initiative creates Samriddhi Kendras using BharatNet broadband for one-stop rural services including telemedicine, education, skill development, e-governance, and financial inclusion. It combines physical hubs with digital connectivity to serve multiple villages. The project was recognised by the International Telecommunication Union for advancing digital inclusion in rural India.
