Revised Windfall Tax on Petroleum Exports (Effective July 16, 2026)

- Government of India modified Special Additional Excise Duty (SAED), popularly known as windfall tax on petroleum product exports.
- New rates: Diesel - ₹15.5/litre (up from ₹8.5); ATF - ₹14.5/litre (up from ₹7.5); Petrol - ₹2.5/litre (down from ₹4).
- Aim: Ensure domestic fuel availability, curb excessive exports amid West Asia tensions and high global oil prices.
- Rates valid until next fortnightly review. No change in domestic excise duty on petrol & diesel.
- Objectives: Prevent windfall profits for exporters and maintain energy security.
