Rare Sighting of Laudankia Vine Snake in Udaipur

Laudankia Vine Snake (Ahaetulla laudankia) photographed in Ubeshwar wildlife area, Udaipur on July 12, 2026.
First recorded sighting in Udaipur region in nearly 30 years.
Species described in 2019, endemic to India, mildly venomous rear-fanged vine snake.
Features: chestnut-brown body with black speckles, 80 cm–1.5 m long, diurnal and arboreal.
Habitat: dry deciduous forests, scrublands, and hill slopes.
