India’s First Engineering Biology Graduation Course

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh announced India’s first Engineering Biology graduation course and launched the roadmap for positioning India as a leading bioeconomy powerhouse by 2035. The initiative aims to build a sovereign biotechnology ecosystem through talent development, AI-driven biology, and bio-manufacturing.
India’s bioeconomy has grown from USD 10 billion in 2014 to USD 95 billion, with projections of USD 300 billion by 2030 and USD 700 billion by 2035. The course will prepare professionals at the intersection of engineering, biology, and healthcare. Emphasis is placed on industry partnerships, innovation, and policies like BioE3 for sustainable growth.
