Chinese General Zhao Zongqi Removed from CPPCC

- On 26 Aug 2026, Gen. Zhao Zongqi stripped of Standing Committee membership, full CPPCC membership and Vice-Chairmanship of Ethnic & Religious Affairs Committee.
- CPPCC is China’s top political advisory body.
- Zhao commanded PLA Western Theatre Command (2016–Dec 2020), responsible for the India border including LAC.
- Theatre covered Galwan Valley area of 15 June 2020 clash (20 Indian, ≥4 Chinese fatalities).
