Sri Lanka loses Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 hosting rights

ICC has withdrawn Sri Lanka’s hosting rights for the first ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027 (originally 14–28 February 2027).
Decision linked to concerns over autonomy of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
ICC earlier banned SLC in 2023-24 for political interference; Sri Lanka also lost 2024 U-19 World Cup hosting.
In April 2026, the Sri Lankan government took temporary control and formed a Transformation Committee.
ICC demands a democratically elected board free from government interference.
New host yet to be announced.
