UPI Payments in Uzbekistan

- Indian travelers can now make UPI payments at merchant outlets across Uzbekistan via the national UZQR code. This follows a commercial agreement signed on 30 August 2026 between NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL) and Uzbekistan’s National Interbank Processing Centre (NIPC), operator of the HUMO system. Users scan UZQR codes using existing UPI apps for direct person-to-merchant transactions from Indian bank accounts.
- Backed by RBI and Central Bank of Uzbekistan, the facility covers retail, hospitality and services, reducing dependence on cash and foreign cards while expanding UPI’s global footprint.
