Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project Inaugurated
  • Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated Phase-I of the Pula Subbaiah Veligonda Project on 31 August 2026 at Gottipadiya. Conceived in 1989 and begun with bhoomi puja in 1996, the gravity-based scheme diverts 43.50 TMC excess Krishna flood water through two tunnels under the Nallamala hills into the Nallamala Sagar Reservoir.
  • Phase-I stores 10.70 TMC, irrigates 1.19 lakh acres, supplies drinking water to 4 lakh people and provides fluoride-free water to 1,657 habitations in drought-prone Prakasam, Nellore and Kadapa districts.
