- Reformist leader Masoud Pezeshkian has won Iran's presidential election, defeating hardline leader Saeed Jalili.
- In the result on 6 July 2024, he defeated radical Saeed Jalili.
- During his election campaign, he promised the people that he would implement the mandatory headscarf law after winning.
- This law was created after several years of restrictions and protests on the Islamic Republic.
